Claude CATTELAIN (BE) - LA LIGNE LA PLUS LONGUE

A space, a body. Inhabit the space. Occupy it as an annexed territory I seek to make my own.
To me, it has to be filled in the best imagined way. From side to side. Entirely. By stretching it, drawning it tight, and vibrating it.
Les Brasseurs, at first, is a height to conquer. Going to cling onto the barriers, camping in hanging bags, then going on again, searching for the oblique, the straight and longest line between the earth and the sky.
Suspension. There, a suspended bird. Between earth and sky, into the void, we don’t really know where we are. Holding our breath, closing our eyes.
This exhibition is related to this interval. It explores what is undetermined : the erecting shore, the hardening clay which becomes water and relapses into the soil.
Fill gaps
Defy gravity
The birds have hollow bones
About the hammocks, some vessels sustaining the line of the ground, there must be two of these to create their common shape.
