TRUST, first collaboration with S.M.A.K. (Ghent). From September 20th to November 17th, we’ll present a choice of recent acquisitions of its collection, exhibited here for the first time.

Les Brasseurs and S.M.A.K. will seize the opportunity to bring together for two evenings of discussion some key figures from the Wallonian and Flemish art world to exchange points of view and visions on the present and future challenges facing contemporary art.
For this occasion two evenings of discussion, will be proposed by Les Brasseurs and S.M.A.K.
We’ll bring together some key figures from the Wallonian and Flemish art world to exchange points of view and visions on the present and future challenges facing contemporary art.
These two meetings will occur on September 29th and November 17th, from 17:00.
The first one, called Political - artistic / Political - cultural, will gather among others:
Sonia Dermience (Komplot, Brussels), Alain De Clerck (founder and director of SPACE Collection, in Vert Ardent electoral roll in Liège), Denis Gielen (artistic director of MAC's, Grand-Hornu, Mons), Julie Hanique (Comptoir des Ressources Créatives, Liège), Pierre Henrion (curator, art commissioner at RAVI, professor at ÉSAVL-Académie, Liège), Lissa Kinnaer (responsible for international relationship in visual arts at Kunstenpunt - Flanders Arts Institute), Anne-Françoise Lesuisse (curator, Biennale de l’Image Possible, Liège), Jérôme Mayer (curator, Les Brasseurs), Dirk Snauwaert (director of WIELS, Brussels), Philippe Van Cauteren (artistic director of S.M.A.K., Ghent), Pascale Viscardy (art historian and critic, in charge of Pôle Ressources - Direction des Arts plastiques contemporains de la Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles).
Antony Hudek (director of KASK Curatorial Studies and curator) will be the moderator of the discussion.
We’ll also welcome then some members of the French and Belgian diffusion structures of the trans-border network Cinquante Degrés Nord, of which Les Brasseurs are a part.
The second, called [ Artists as disseminators / Alternative contemporary means of actions and diffusion ], will gather artists leading collective propositions (exhibition places, residencies, runspaces, networks…) and initiating alternatives to institutional and commercial propositions.

Through the exhibition’s period, Arnaud Eubelen (BE) will present the installation [ He drank me ] in our Young Artist Glassbox, drawing on a Baudelairian source a previous work displayed at Les Brasseurs in 2017.
